Functional Capabilities

Description of the product's functional capabilities.

About the Application

The software generates realistic network traffic and emulates network infrastructure and attacks to evaluate network devices for data-transfer quality, supported functionality, and cybersecurity. Its primary use is network device testing.

The software's core capability is running tests simultaneously across all layers of the OSI model (L2-L7) while evaluating a network device's data-transfer quality and compliance with functional and cybersecurity requirements.

Core Software Capabilities

Peresvet ST provides the following capabilities:

  • generation and processing of realistic Data Plane traffic: HTTP/WAF, floods (TCP/UDP/ICMP), DNS/NTP amplification, PCAP/HAR Replay, Dynamic Applications, CVE Replay, C2 (Compromised Host), RoCEv2, Elephant Flow, and L3-L7 Fuzzing;
  • Control Plane and Access Plane testing: routing (BGP/IS-IS/OSPF/LDP and more), subscriber access (IPoE/PPPoE/DHCP/802.1X and more), and flaps and schedules on the Actions tab;
  • latency measurement in nanoseconds or microseconds and one-second metrics exported to Grafana/ClickHouse;
  • evaluation of the accuracy and effectiveness of security systems, including false-positive (FP) breakdowns for CVE Replay;
  • a graphical operator interface with a task builder, PTI/PCAP/C2 library, and agent synchronization settings;
  • generation of reports in PDF and other supported formats from metric dashboards.

System Requirements

The system requires hardware with the following characteristics:

  1. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or Red OS 7.3/8.0;
  2. at least 32 GB of RAM;
  3. at least 16 physical CPU cores with a 2 GHz base clock for a virtual machine;
  4. at least 16 RX/TX queues on the network adapter;
  5. at least 64 GB of free disk space.
info

Many virtualization platforms create only one RX/TX queue per interface by default, limiting traffic processing to a single CPU core. The number of queues must be at least equal to the number of allocated CPU cores.
